WAVE Officer Elections

2026–2027 School Year

WAVE elects members to officer positions on the WAVE executive board each spring to support parent engagement, community events, and fundraising that benefits Westlake Charter School students and staff.

The election process follows the WAVE bylaws and is designed to be transparent, inclusive, and organized.

All officer terms begin July 1, 2026 and run through June 30, 2027.

Who Can Run?

To be eligible, candidates must:

• Be a parent or guardian of a Westlake student (WAVE member)
• Have completed 25 of the recommended 30 volunteer hours in the current school year before April 30th
Agree to serve if elected

Members may nominate themselves or another eligible parent/guardian.

How to Submit a Nomination

You may nominate:

• Yourself
• Another WAVE member (eligibility and interest will be confirmed by the Nomination Committee)

The Nominating Committee

The President will appoint a Nominating Committee and a chair to ultimately build a slate of candidates for the election.  The Nominating Committee should:

  • Confirm candidates meet eligibility requirements (25 of 30 volunteer hours completed in 2024-25 and parent/legal guardian of a Westlake student)
  • Confirm willingness to serve
  • Build the slate of nominees by April 15
  • Recruit additional candidates if positions are empty

Election Process

If multiple candidates run for a position, voting will take place by ballot at the April WAVE meeting (April 30th at the K-8 campus).

If only one candidate is nominated, the election may occur by voice vote.

A candidate must receive a majority vote of members present to be elected.
